A large part of Yaser’s rapid success and expertise is the ability to be active across a number of disciplines. The transfer of skills across fields and maintaining a high level of curiosity about a range of topics means he is able to offer insight in to a variety of issues.
He is passionate about any project he gets involved in and gives his all. This dynamic energy is obvious to those who meet Yaser both professionally and personally. When committed to a project his endurance and personal investment in the team and individuals he works with result in a wide range of highly successful ongoing professional relationships.
Yaser’s deep interest in technology as a whole, and it’s applications across disciplines is one of the main reasons he became a surgeon.
He has picked up innovative practices and uses them skillfully to be at the fore-front of his field internationally. Whether using a complex but powerful method for treating adolescent hip problems, or trialling new lengthening devices and circular frame systems, Yaser is always looking for the next innovation in surgery and healthcare.
With the long term eye always on risk reduction, a combination of methodical risk analysis coupled with in depth technological and engineering knowledge means Yaser is experienced in knowing when to pick up new technology and when to hold ground.
Active involvement in research on surgical technique improvements and challenging dogma on surgical decision making through the use of Markov Chain Monte Carlo mathematical modelling put Yaser in a unique position to advise on how to innovate in healthcare without going over old ground.
With this level of knowledge at the intersection of healthcare and technology Yaser is able to advise on the direction of travel in healthcare innovation and is actively extending the horizon of what is possible through his own research projects.
Yaser applies his creativity across a range of activities. Current activities include developing a national database for surgical data collection that can be used across the public and independent sector, multiple small design projects to ease surgery, improve precision and reliability. Through excellent inter-personal relationships Yaser is able to present these concepts to a wide range of medical device companies who are keen to support him.
The largest project involves developing 3-dimensional planning software to manage the current disparate imaging workflow. By automating steps in surgical planning Yaser is opening the pathway for the creation of the next generation of surgical precision tools leading to improved care, reliable outcomes and a massive step forward in the patient experience.
Prevention is better than cure.
But what happens when prevention fails. Well, then Yaser believes that curing in the most efficient, risk minimised and comprehensive manner is the next most important goal.
There are examples throughout Yaser’s personal and professional life of his focus on developing efficiency. Cost effectiveness, cutting patient attendance, journey time and general hassle of an already stressful experience are keys to bringing the art of medicine as close to science as possible.
Financial and experiential efficiency releases time for innovation, creativity and societal improvement for both the patient and healthcare provider.
Through a commitment to enhanced recovery projects for limb reconstruction patients, clinic efficiency and coding projects, Yaser has shown time and again that understanding the needs of the patient, the frontline staff and the wider organisation leads to huge improvements in the whole system.
This is the driving force behind almost all of the innovation, research and strategic work Yaser is involved in.
Yaser has always believed that World Class Care is a State of Mind. With almost 15 years of experience in international healthcare provision across the first world, third world, refugee camps, conflict zones and post-conflict, Yaser has a well-developed sense of what works in different environments, and what changes are required. A sense of logical and experiential realism means that the advice at each stage is simple but fundamental to each project.
Within his training Yaser was always able to see the looming paradigm shifts on the ground and respond with an eye on the future. This still rings true today in his approach to the UK independent healthcare market and the future for the NHS and independent care.
With a highly active sense of emotional awareness, personal life experience and imagination, Yaser’s ability to understand and align the personal motivations of the workforce with the global goals of a department or organisation have led to a reputation as a collaborative and inspirational colleague.
Yaser takes an active role in regional commissioning group transformation projects to streamline care across London. This ongoing experience and an international view on collaboration and healthcare delivery makes Yaser an excellent partner in healthcare strategy and development.
